Holiday Egg Nogg

Oh, the simple, traditional holiday flavors are here! You can find egg nogg in any grocery store

but have you tried one made from scratch? Here is a simple recipe that you can make in the comfort of your own home and it will taste much better than the store bought brand!

INGREDIENTS: Serves 5 Cups

10 MIN PREP TIME 10 MIN COOK TIME

3 cups of milk

1 cup light cream

3 Cloves, Whole

2 cinnamon sticks

1 stick of vanilla (split in half, seeds scraped)

1/2 teaspoon of Nutmeg

6 egg yolks

3/4 cup of sugar

Desired amount of brandy, runm, burbon or vodka

DIRECTIONS:

In a saucepan, bring Milk, Cream, Cloves, Cinnamon Sticks, Vanilla Beans and Nutmeg to almost a boil. Stirr offten. Beat Egg Yolks and Sugar in medium bowl until fluffy. Gradually add one cup of milk mixture at a time, mixing with wisk until well blended. Move the mixture into your saucepan and stirring constantly, cook for about 4 minutes or until the mixture has thickened and can coat your spoon. Strain your finished mixture and cool to your liking. Slowly add your alcohol and stirr until blended. Serve in a cup and add whipped cream if you like. Something I like to do is lightly sprinkle ground cinammon on top of the whipped cream. Enjoy responsibly and Happy Holidays!

P.S. Do not boil the mixture. Heat it just enough to reach desired thickness. Traditional recipes do not require the milk mixture to be heated but do so because eggnog freshly made from eggs infected with salmonella and not heated can cause food poisoning.
